A group of children playing is a wonderful thing to see. But have you ever seen children, even small kids, that just seem more coordinated and athletic than others? CrossFit Kids is designed to develop skills that allow them to simply be more active and healthy. In a society where diabetes and child obesity is running rampant, it may be just the thing to add years to their life. August classes are full, but you can contact us to register for September sessions.
Today is easy! A run and some lifting. Practice good technique and you'll be surprised what your body can do!
Today is Steve's birthday! Congrats are in order! Two birthdays in one month... how could we be so lucky?
So to Steve, whose motivated a lot of people, who motivated himself 80lbs lighter, who serves our community daily, here's the best birthday present a CrossFit trainer can give: pain. Happy Birthday!

Frantic Forty (Steve's B-Day WOD)
4 TGU (79/26)
40 Push Press (45/35)
40 Squat (45/35)
40 MB Burpee

Today's workout is dedicated to 7 CIA operators that were killed outside of a base that Jim was stationed at while in Afghanistan in 2009.
It's hot outside.. that's no secret. It's summer and it's Texas. Drink water, stay hydrated, it's going to be a little warm today.
If you have a health concern with the heat, please let Jim or a trainer know so we can set up an alternate WOD inside the gym!
We'll be inside for most of the session, then headed outside. Also, if you've got gloves, I'd bring em. :)
15 Minute AMRAP
Sled Drag to road and back
Overhead tire carry to road, run back
I love seeing new PR's! Yesterday was an exciting day... so much weight!
alright... a couple of small changes:
1. OLY is now only at 6AM and 6:30PM. You'll have Jim as a dedicated coach during those times. Want to lift another time? that sucks. I want you to lift correctly, so if it's not at those times, stick to the normally scheduled WOD.
2. Please show up on time to class. If you're early, stay out of the way and stretch, or hang out outside. Due to the club getting bigger, we're trying to ensure a safe and smooth workout, so we're asking that you are prompt at class time.
Summer Session (9AM)
Max Weight TGU
20 Weighted Lunge
20 Push Press
20 Lateral BJ
200 Jump rope
I think it's safe to say that we've started to outgrow the gym space that we currently occupy. Compounded with the fact that we now have two trainers that are CrossFit Kids certified and ready to do classes... but no real estate to do classes, it's time to get a bigger place. Keep us in your prayers as we keep moving forward on getting a new location so we can get some breathing (and lifting) room.
Are you interested in having a kid give CrossFit Kids a shot? Ask one of the staff for the details.
Some mornings it's just easy to get out of bed. I'm not sure what it is... good dreams.. maybe the cat didn't interrupt my sleep? Whatever. The point is that I feel pretty good today. So brew the coffee, eat something healthy and fulfilling (breakfast tacos with cantaloupe here) and start warming up for this week, we've got work to do!
Jen and Shawndi come back from California today. They just finished their CrossFit Kids Certification Course. You got kids? Get em in CrossFit. They'll be better people because of it.
10 100M weighted sprints/farmer carry
100 lateral BJ
You never know unless you try, right? Sometimes you've got to dive into the unknown before you realize you're pretty good at diving. CrossFit is the same... were you a weight lifter before? Maybe. Were you an Oly lifter before? Probably not. But you're trying it, and getting better at it. We've got a sport that intimidates and scares most people... it's not easy, it often hurts, but where else can the people you compete against also be the people that cheer you on and lift you up? Keep training. Keep practicing. Ability comes with consistency.
Sleep is not overrated. Late nights and early mornings wear us down over time, affect our workouts and mood, and make it harder to think. Do yourself a favor at night, turn off that TV and go to bed. Torn hands, sore backs, and pulled muscles are all part of an athletes life, but if you are eating healthy foods, and giving the body time to repair, you can minimize down time and hurt time.
In other news, this Saturday there is an all-night kickball tournament to raise funds for Lance's family. If you're interested, call or ask Chris.
